Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Thursday said that the judiciary would not disappoint the people of Pakistan and would make every effort for quick dispensation of justice. Addressing the delegation of Islamabad Bar Association at Supreme Court, he said that the society cannot exist without justice and for that reason people of Pakistan had joined hands with the legal fraternity for establishing rule of law in the country.

Being aware of the fact that people have many expectations from us, the Chief Justice said, judiciary would come up to the expectations of the people and make every effort to dispense justice. He said, "now a layman has got the awareness about his rights and duties and it is up to the courts to dispense justice for the relief of common people as early as possible."

While talking about the legal fraternity, the Chief Justice said that lawyers succeeded in their test and now it was the turn of judiciary to do the same. It is justice which can bind people with lawyers and judiciary, he added. Recalling lawyers' movement for reinstatement of judiciary during last two years, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that civil society and the legal fraternity had one slogan 'rule of law'.

Addressing the delegation of female lawyers from AJ&K, the CJ expressed hope for enrolment of more females in the professions. He mentioned New Judicial Policy, wherein it had been emphasised representation of females as judges of the courts. Chief Justice also lauded the role of female lawyers in the movement for restoration of judiciary. Talking about the appointment of civil judges in Punjab, the Chief Justice said that 100 judges have been appointed and family judges would also be appointed.
